The page displays six digits of hour, minute and second, and each digit consists of upper and lower halves. When the number changes, the upper half flips downward to display the upper half of the new number, and at the same time, the lower half flips to display the lower half of the new number, simulating a real mechanical page turning effect. The flip animation has an acceleration and deceleration process, which conforms to physical inertia.
The page turning effect is achieved through CSS 3D transform, which divides the digital image into upper and lower halves, and uses rotateX to rotate to simulate page turning. The animation uses the cubic-bezier slowdown function to simulate the effect of gravity acceleration. Some versions use Canvas or WebGL to achieve more detailed shadows and highlights.
Suitable for decoration as a desktop clock, the classic page turning style is simple and elegant. It is also used for scenes such as event countdown and meeting timing. Flip-turning animations have a ceremonial feel than digital jump changes.
