Video files usually contain a video stream and an audio stream (or multiple audio streams). The tool uses FFmpeg.wasm (browser-side FFmpeg) to decapsulate the video container, extract the audio stream, and then re-encode it into the target format. Processing is completely completed locally on the browser and files are not uploaded to the server.
