There are 7 columns and 6 rows of upright chessboard, and the two people take turns selecting one column to put in the chess pieces. The chess pieces will fall to the bottom of the column or pile on top of existing chess pieces. The party who first connects four pieces of the same color in the horizontal, vertical and diagonal directions wins.
Unlike gobang, the pieces of four-way chess can only be stacked from the bottom, so the strategy focuses more on vertical and diagonal layout. The middle column has the highest value because it can extend in both directions from the middle. Being first has certain advantages.
AI uses minimax search plus Alpha-Beta pruning to evaluate the number of potential connections at each location. The page uses CSS Grid to draw a chessboard, and CSS animation is used to achieve the gravity effect when the chess pieces fall.
