Echo Maze is a free online game. Navigate a pitch-black maze using sonar pings that briefly light up the walls and the exit. Play instantly — no install, no waiting. It runs entirely in your browser — no download or sign-up needed.
The screen is almost completely black, and you can only see a small circle around the character. Clicking on the screen sends out a sound pulse. The sound wave spreads outward and hits the wall and reflects back, briefly illuminating the outline of the wall it touches. Darkness returned to itself a few seconds later.
You need to remember the location of the walls and the direction of the passage based on the echoes, and grope forward in the dark to find the exit. Some levels have traps (dead ends, abyss) that need to be explored carefully.
Sound wave propagation is realized using circular diffusion animation, and reflection after hitting a wall is calculated using ray detection. The lighting effect is controlled with a CSS gradient mask or Canvas Transparency. Test spatial memory ability.
In the echo maze game, click in the dark maze to emit sound waves. The sound waves hit the wall and reflect back to briefly illuminate the surroundings, relying on memory to find the exit.
